Gorilla trekking in Rwanda and Uganda – Track the mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park, go golden monkey tracking and visit Dian Fossey tomb – Cross over to Uganda for another gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport
Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by your tour guide who will drive you to Kigali town which is the capital of Rwanda. You will be informed about your safari. You will then depart for Volcanoes National Park through the beautiful terraced slopes that show much of Rwanda’s scene, steadily moving to the base of the stunning Virunga volcanoes; frequently five peaks could be seen. Your will you’re your dinner and overnight at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge / Kinigi Guesthouse / Mountain Gorilla Lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast at the lodge, transfer to the park headquarters of Volcanoes National Park at 08:00hours for instructions, then after penetrating in the jungle in search for gorillas. Gorilla trekking activities take 2 – 7 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas in search of food and shelter. The gorilla trekking activity is somehow tiresome however once you meet the Gorillas, you will doubtlessly disregard all the hardships you experienced to see the Gorillas. After breakfast, you will embark on golden monkeys trekking in the National Park after which you will visit different places like the Ross Carr’s orphanage and Lake Kivu, and the Dian Fossey’s grave. Provided that time permits, you will additionally visit the local school and community projects. Return for dinner and overnight stay at your lodge as on day 1.
Day 4: Transfer to Uganda
In the morning after breakfast, you will cross to Ugandan and move to in the southwestern region. You will head off to Mgahinga National Park and upon arrival, you will visit the nearby Bafumbira cultural group and later on come back to Volcanoes Mount Gahinga Lodge / Kisoro Tourist Hotel / Travelers Rest Camp for dinner and overnight sit tight.
Day 5: Gorilla Tracking / Hiking
After breakfast at the lodge, you will enjoy gorilla trekking again in Mgahinga / Nkuringo, Alternatively, you can continue for trekking on Mountain Gahinga. Dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 6: Transfer back to Kigali
Early in the morning after breakfast at your lodge, you will cross the border again and drive back to Kigali. If you still have time, you might do a city tour and visit places like the Genocide memorials, Rwanda National Museum, and other nearby places. Drop off will be at your Hotel in Kigali or Airport for your flight back Home.
