6 Days Gorilla, Golden Monkey and Dian Fossey Safari

Day 1: Arrive in Rwanda

Arrival at Kigali International Airport and you will be met by the tour guide from African Jungle Adventures who will drive you to your hotel in Kigali City. Take a rest, then after lunch go for a city tour in Kigali with stops at the genocide memorial centers, art and craft center, local markets and other different areas of interest. After the city tour, you will return to your hotel for overnight at Hotel des Mille Collines.

Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

At the morning after breakfast, you will meet your safari guide and transfer north on a scenic drive through Rwandan countryside to Ruhengeri on the foothills of the Volcanoes National Park. You will have dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge / Le Bambou Lodge / Kinigi Guest House.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking

After breakfast at your lodge, you will transfer to the park headquarters of Volcanoes National Park and be briefed and appointed a gorilla family. The stunning trek, in which you follow in the footsteps of the rare and basically endangered mountain gorilla, the biggest living primate on Earth, begins in the foothills of the Virunga with eye-catching perspectives in all directions. After entering the national park, the paths are littered with the crisp spoor of the slippery buffalo and elephant, and trekkers will be immersed in the obscure intimacy of the rainforest, alive with live birds and butterflies. Trekking through the forest, the stilled and experienced trackers will soon bring you up close to one gorilla family. During the 1 hour of interaction with the extraordinary gorillas, you will get to think about their day by day life, and feeding pattern.  Dinner and overnight will be at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge / Le Bambou Lodge / Kinigi Guest House.

Day 4: Dian Fossey Visit

Today, you will take part in the trek to Karisoke Gorilla Research Centre which Dian Fossey, the famous primatologist set up. Due to her battle to protect the endangered mountain gorilla in Volcanoes National Park Rwanda, a voluntary project was found called; Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International. If it’s not too much trouble notes that this adventurous activity also takes a full day. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge as on day three.

Day 5: Golden Monkey Tracking

Today after breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters and enjoy the great adventure, tracking the “Little Primates” of the Virunga, the Golden Monkey, now recorded as endangered as a result of their small numbers. You will be among a select group of a maximum of 6 people, and the track will take the most of the day. After the trek, return to the lodge for unwinding OR a community walk. Dinner and overnight will be at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge / Le Bambou Lodge / Kinigi Guest House.

Day 6: Return to Kigali

After breakfast at the lodge, you will drive back to Kigali, do last minute shopping and then transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
