The Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is located in the Virunga Mountains and is adjoining with the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. Mgahinga is found approximately 15km, south of the town of Kisoro and over 55km, west of Kabale, the biggest city in the sub-region. The whole park is found in Bufumbira County, in Kisoro District.
The Park is the smallest gorilla park in Uganda with about 33.7km. The park is extremely essential, as it is one of the two parks in Uganda that provides habitat for the endangered Mountain gorilla.
